(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) July 7, 2011 - City Developments Limited (CDL), a leading property developer in Singapore, has published its 4th edition Sustainability Report 2011 which is available online at http://www.reportalert.info/ra/profiles/CDL/2011/?ID=39318.

Following the launch of ISO 26000:2010

Guidance on social responsibility on 1 November 2010, CDL is pleased to be the first Singapore company to address the ISO 26000 framework in its 2011 report. Although ISO 26000 is a voluntary standard and not a certification, the Company believes that the framework provides essential guidance on internationally accepted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) best practices. Titled “Evolve”, the report shares insights on how CDL is aligning its existing management system with the ISO 26000 guidelines.

The report covers CDL’s company-wide environmental and social performance for the calendar year 2010. References have also been made to the United Nations (UN) Global Compacts 10 Universal Principles. It also subscribes to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3.1 framework and is externally verified by an independent professional body. It has once again been successfully checked by GRI at Level B+.

The report focuses on CDL’s business, corporate governance, risk management, the environment, employees and community engagement, and outlines Company’s ongoing commitment to meet its CSR targets. Although sustainability reporting is not a mandatory requirement in Singapore, CDL is voluntarily disclosing the information as the Company respects and upholds the principle of transparency and open communication. CDL’s CSR engagement continues to evolve, with a view to improve.

CDL seeks feedback on the sustainability report for further improvement. Interested stakeholder can contact csrenquiries@cdl.com.sg
