Some State Farm Agents Are Going Green
(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) February 2, 2010 - There is a haunting question about Going Green. Can any business do this, or it is only for the larger corporations? It has been correctly said that the environmental issue is a universal problem that requires universal participation. Christine Moscaritolo is a State Farm agent who decided to create a Green office. She worked with Heather Deschenes of Green Impact Solutions, Inc. to complete a Green assessment and develop sufficient Green practices to earn the silver level Green business certification. The best quality about the Green assessment is that it is free and simple to do.
The insurance business is a good segway to discussion of heath and community impact. Certainly, as a person who is so vitally involved in the community and the health and well-being of her customers, Christine is able to show that her commitment is not just about business. Going Green has become a leadership issue as seen as such companies as Wal-Mart, Dell Computers, and Hewlett Packard. The triple bottom line of planet, people, and profits places a needed balance for even community-based businesses.
Going Green is a personal commitment to the environment that should translate into a business application as well. What the environmentally-committed person soon realizes is that the ability to be Green comes from installing many smaller Green practices that become a way of life and business. This State Farm office serves as an example for other area businesses to follow. The Green Business League commends Christine Moscaaritolo and her Allentown State Farm office for becoming a leader in her community by making this commitment to a Green community.
Chistine Moscaritolo State Farm Insurance Agency is located on Hamilton Boulevard in Allentown, PA and this is the first State Farm Insurance agency that have earned their Green Business Certification with the Green Business League. Christine agency is already had a number of green practices in place when she opened her doors on July 1st earlier this year. In the initial renovation stage of getting the office ready for operation, using no-VOC paints earned State Farm some of their first certification points.
When setting up the office, all the appliances and computer equipment were Energy Star rated. To help ensure good indoor air quality for employees and customers, voc-eating plants were placed abundantly throughout the office. Other more aggressive practices include processing roughly half of their insurance policies online and getting customer signatures via an electronic signature pad and sending and receiving faxes through email.
