(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) Madison, Wisconsin – November 4, 2010 Leonardo Academy is conducting a sustainability assessment of the fire suppression industry.

This project is focused on the sustainability impacts and risks of fire suppression systems and the fire suppression industry as a whole.  Strategies for reducing building emissions footprints and environmental impacts, improving life-cycle management, and increasing sustainability will be identified. The project will be used to raise awareness and understanding of the sustainability impacts of fire suppression.

This project includes a Building Fire Suppression field research project to collect data about the fire suppression systems currently in buildings.  Companies and organizations are invited to participate in a brief survey requesting some high level information about company building portfolios and building fire suppression systems from a sustainability viewpoint. To participate in this survey go to: http://www.leonardoacademy.org/programs/enterprise-programs/building-fire-suppression-survey.html.

The survey gathers information and provides several options for further participation in the project.  The goal of the field research is to quantify the environmental impacts associated with fire systems installed in buildings in the United States.

Initial support of this project has been provided by Tyco International; others are invited to provide sponsorship as well.
