Domtar recently joined select company by achieving UL’s ECOLOGO® certification, which involves a rigorous process few writing paper manufacturers have completed.  After over a year of hard work, Domtar’s Windsor, Quebec mill made the announcement that it had passed the ECOLOGO Certification’s environmental audit.  In doing so, Domtar became only the second North American manufacturer to offer ECOLOGO Certified uncoated paper, giving Canadian customers a number of newly certified products to choose from.

Here’s what you need to know about this significant achievement:

What is ECOLOGO?

Founded in 1988, ECOLOGO is a multi-attribute certification that tells the story of a product’s environmental performance throughout its lifecycle.  Administered by UL, a global independent safety science company, ECOLOGO enables purchasers to identify holistically greener products that meet their sustainability goals.

What makes ECOLOGO different from other ecolabels?

Because it focuses on not just one, but multiple impacts, ECOLOGO provides proof of environmental leadership in a marketplace crowded with “green labels.”  When compared to others on the market, ECOLOGO Certified products have an overall reduced potential burden on the environment.  Domtar’s ECOLOGO certified products have demonstrated acceptable fiber sourcing and manufacturing practices, while meeting stringent criteria on chemical use.

What Domtar products now offer ECOLOGO?

Select EarthChoice Office Paper products sold in Canada now come standard with ECOLOGO certification.  Purchasing these Domtar products is an easy way to demonstrate your commitment to the environment.
