LOS ANGELES June 28, 2017 /3BL Media/– Furthering its industry leadership in sustainability, today at the Green Sports Alliance Summit, AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, released its sixth annual sustainability report, a comprehensive publication that details the company’s global efforts toward reducing its environmental footprint.

The 2017 AEG Sustainability Report is now available for download on the company’s website www.aegworldwide.com/aeg1earth. The company’s new sustainability report, outlines its progress toward its set of 2020 Environmental Goals that are based on performance metrics collected from its worldwide venues, festivals and offices.

The AEG 2017 Sustainability Report highlights several of AEG’s recent achievements in the area of sustainability, including:

  • Fifteen percent fewer Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from sites within AEG’s portfolio since 2010.
  • The installation of LED Sports Lights at Target Center in Minneapolis and StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
  • ICC Sydney’s new 520 kilowatt community solar project.
  • The Los Angeles Convention Center setting a record of 90 percent waste diversion during the USGBC’s Greenbuild International Conference & Expo.
  • StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. being the first stadium in the world to install on-site energy storage.
  • Reducing annual potable water consumption by 45 million liters at water-stressed sites compared to 2016 Base Year, equivalent to about 20 Olympic sized swimming pools.

In addition to reporting on AEG’s environmental performance metrics, the report also features examples of the AEG 1EARTH program, AEG’s corporate sustainability program, in action at multiple iconic venues worldwide, including T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas; ICC Sydney in Australia; StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.; Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin; the Los Angeles Convention Center; Target Center in Minneapolis; Cairns Convention Centre in Cairns, Australia; Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai; Darwin Convention Center in Darwin, Australia; Hawaii Convention Center; Verizon Theater at Grand Prairie in Texas, and Valley View Casino in San Diego.

“Across all of AEG’s business units, environmental sustainability remains one of the company’s core values,” said John Marler, Vice President, Energy and Environment for AEG. “We are committed to continuing to drive business growth and social impact by addressing the global environmental challenges of water, energy and waste facing our industry.  Our new 2017 Sustainability Report showcases the collective sense of purpose that our venues, festivals and offices around the world share from our policies to our partnerships.”

The company’s 2020 Environmental Goals are as follows:

  • Reduce GHG emissions across all operations by 3.2 percent per year from 2010 to 2020. This science-based GHG goal ensures emissions reductions are aligned with recommendations made by the scientific community to keep global temperatures from increasing more than 2 degrees Celsius and will ensure that AEG is doing its part to help avoid the worst of climate change.
  • Reduce potable water use at water-stressed sites by 2.3 percent per year from 2010 to 2020.  The new water target focuses potable water conservation efforts on sites in “water-stressed” regions as identified by the World Resources Institute.
  • Divert 70 percent of waste from landfill across all operations by 2020. AEG surpassed its original waste diversion goal of 25 percent several years ago. Its new 70 percent target will help AEG move closer to its long-term vision of zero waste.

AEG launched AEG 1EARTH in 2007 and published the industry’s first sustainability report in 2010. To view or download the 2017 AEG Sustainability Report, please click here
