LOUISVILLE, Ky., October 3, 2018 /3BL Media/ – Friday, October 5, The Arbor Day Foundation and Texas Roadhouse will plant trees in Beckley Creek Park and distribute free trees to Jefferson Country residents to plant in their yards. The first 225 resident who visit Texas Roadhouse (13321 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, Kentucky) on October 6, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. receive a free tree and an opportunity to meet with specially-trained Citizen Forester volunteers to learn instructions for tree planting and long-term maintenance.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation to help beautify Louisville and expand our tree canopy both in parks and neighborhoods,” says Travis Doster, Texas Roadhouse Vice President of Communications. “As a Louisville-based company, this project is especially meaningful, and we hope to replicate it around the country.”

Texas Roadhouse employees will plant 450 trees to preserve the Grand Allee riparian buffer in order to restore a significant area in Beckley Creek Park. Preserving and developing a strong riparian area not only enhances the beauty of the landscape, but also adds to the integrity of the water's edge, playing a critical role in a robust eco-system by slowing run-off during heavy rainfall, defending the bank from erosion and providing food and protection to wildlife.

“We applaud Texas Roadhouse for their tree planting, distributions and stewardship in the communities they serve and for setting such an impressive tree planting goal over the next three years,” said Dan Lambe, president, Arbor Day Foundation. “Placing trees in the hands of citizens creates community ownership of tree canopy issues and solutions.”

The Louisville planting day is part of an ongoing partnership between the Arbor Day Foundation and Texas Roadhouse which will plant and distribute more than 50,000 trees in forests and communities through 2021.
