Are You Ready for Year Two Reporting?

With the end of the conflict minerals 2014 reporting year fast approaching, this second year of compliance is poised to be just as ground-breaking as the first. As our insights about the first year of compliance show, there is a lot of work still left to do across the industry. Huge gaps in supplier reporting remain and publicly trading companies still face major challenges tracing the source of their 3TG minerals through the supply chain. Our consulting counterparts at Elm Sustainability Partners have echoed this sentiment in their year-end analyses as well. As we gear up for another year of conflict minerals compliance, Source Intelligence is very aware of the impact this has on the overall reporting timeline and we encourage customers to plan strategically and start early.

Last year we found that supplier engagement—where initial data is collected—can take up to six months. Customers should be taking this timeline into consideration as they plan their 2014 programs and think about the big picture of compliance which includes more than just data collection and reporting. Data verification, due diligence, supply chain complexity, auditing—these are all components that need to be accounted for. Are you ready? To learn about the approach that companies should take this second year, attend The Conflict Minerals Big Picture free webinar on September 25th.
