In 2017, Arrow broadened existing CSR programs and established new ones to demonstrate how innovation can improve lives and shape a better tomorrow. Some highlights from the report include:

  • Arrow CSR worked with organizations that supported over 8.3 million people in 62 countries on 6 continents last year.
  • The Arrow SAM Car project continued to expand horizons for the physically disabled, with quadriplegic former racecar driver Sam Schmidt not only setting a new top speed of 190 mph, but also driving with his kids for the first time since his accident.
  • Arrow and Close the Gap made strides addressing the digital divide in Africa using the DigiTruck, a mobile, solar-powered classroom. In Tanzania, the DigiTruck operates at an orphanage, providing online access and educational programming to students. The Nairobi DigiTruck will provide IT and enterprise training for both students and adults.
  • Arrow launched a new employee community engagement portal in the United States and Canada, Arrow Charitable. Employees participated in nearly 600 volunteer events, supporting close to 200 charities, donating thousands of volunteer hours.

“Arrow works with innovators and helps them navigate a complex world, developing practical solutions that make people’s lives more fulfilling and productive,” said Mike Long, Arrow’s president, chairman and chief executive officer. “In doing so, we do more than extend technology’s influence; we become part of the humanitarian solution.”

Arrow’s dedicated CSR program provides support through technical expertise, employee volunteerism and partner resources, in addition to making financial contributions to organizations that share the company’s values and vision.

“Our view of CSR goes beyond traditional corporate philanthropy and community relations. We prefer to take on a few transformational projects that leverage the company’s expertise and scope and show what’s possible when we think Five Years Out,” said Joe Verrengia, global CSR director at Arrow. “As we build upon our CSR efforts, we will continue to look for partners who embrace the potential for technology to change lives.”
