WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 23, 2013 /3BL Media/ – To celebrate National Pro Bono Week, A Billion + Change and Points of Light are teaming up with Companies With A Mission and their partner, The Brees Dream Foundation, to offer professionals the chance to showcase their pro bono service support for nonprofits of their choice through the $1 million Super Service Challenge. The Super Service Challenge will award hundreds of nonprofits that receive pro bono support with gifts from the $1 million jackpot, and will also recognize volunteers with a chance to win eight Super Bowl tickets and national media recognition.

“We are thrilled A Billion + Change and Points of Light have joined the Super Service Challenge,” said Companies With A Mission Executive Director, Mitch Davis. “When A Billion + Change pledge companies take advantage of the Super Service Challenge prize and share their stories and pictures of service, we can demonstrate the power of pro bono and skilled volunteering to meet the critical needs of communities.”

To be eligible, volunteer teams of three to eight participants must submit service stories between now and Nov. 30 for a chance to win. Nonprofit partners are eligible to win part of the $1 million prize money and hundreds will win.  There is no cost to participate. Individuals simply need to organize volunteer projects, engage their friends to help and submit any project completed since June 1 for consideration. A panel of judges selects the finalists and winners. To sign up to participate in the Super Service Challenge, visit: http://cwam.com/billionpluschange/.

This announcement comes during National Pro Bono Week, Oct. 20 - 26 this year. Pro Bono Week is a global celebration of the pro bono ethic across all professions that use their talents to make a difference, and is organized by the Taproot Foundation, a longtime partner of A Billion + Change.

The Super Service Challenge, first launched in 2010, is supported by Companies With A Mission, an initiative that works to promote volunteerism. Drew Brees and the Brees Dream Foundation are lead partners in supporting the Super Service Challenge.

About Pro Bono Service

Pro bono--short for pro bono publico, "for the public good"—refers to professional services delivered without expectation of a fee to organizations serving the social good. It is both a form of support for community organizations as well as an increasingly core part of the ethic of business professionals from design to HR and technology, who believe that high-quality professional services are too important to only be available to those who can afford them.
