Bloomberg Joins IxDA to Honor Excellence in Interaction Design

Bloomberg was honored to sponsor the 2015 Interaction Design Association’s (IxDA) awards ceremony and conference closing celebration last week at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. The awards acknowledged breakthrough examples of interaction design over the past year. Winners were selected from over 300 submissions and a finalist pool of 72.

Top awards were received by:

Innovations that were awarded a Best in Category award included:

  • Best in Connecting: Skype in the Classroom by Made by Many (Great Britain)
  • Best in Empowering: Blindmaps by Blindmaps.org (Austria)
  • Best in Engaging: Learning to See, Seeing to Learn by University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University (U.S.)
  • Best in Expressing: Toot by SUPSI (Switzerland)
  • Best in Disrupting: Redesigning Breast Cancer Diagnostics by Designit (Norway)
  • Best in Optimizing: MyMilkman by Frontend.com (Ireland)

The Future Voice Award, a top honor selected by Interaction Award Jury Chair Richard Buchanan from Case Western Reserve, was awarded to Xiangyang Xin, Professor and Dean, School of Design, Jiangnan University, for shaping the approach to Interaction Design in China.

Bloomberg joins the IxDA in congratulating all of the finalists and winners for demonstrating the profound potential of interaction design and evidence of what it could become.
