This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), and Booz Allen has been a proud supporter of the ICC event since 2009. More than 192 million pounds of trash has been removed from beaches and waterways since the first ICC event 30 years ago, and Booz Allen employee volunteers have played a part in improving the health of our waterways.

In 2014, more than 560,000 volunteers in 91 countries around the world removed over 16 million pounds of trash along 13,000 miles of beaches and inland waterways. Learn more about the impact from the 2014 ICC by viewing the 2015 Trash Free Seas Report: By the Numbers, an infographic that shows the “Top Ten” finds, weirdest finds, and the impact to sea life and the environment from all this trash.

Booz Allen embraces this initiative as part of its own commitment to promoting sustainable practices, both internally and externally, through client work and strategic nonprofit partnerships. In 2014 the firm sponsored nearly 20 cleanup events across the country, and in honor of our Centennial year, distributed $1,000 sponsorships to the local environmental nonprofits supported by our employees. This year, the firm sponsored all of the cleanup efforts in the state of Virginia, and volunteers from across the firm participated in cleanup events.
