CBRE’s Corporate Responsibility practices deliver responsible business practices that benefit our clients, employees, investors and other stakeholders.

Responsible business is an essential element of the CBRE brand. As such, we aspire to be recognized as much for our commitment to responsible business as for the excellence of our client service. It is our policy to do the right thing and to act responsibly in our day-to-day relationships with our customers, suppliers, employees, communities and all our stakeholders. Our employees’ commitment to, and daily demonstration of, our RISE values of respect, integrity, service and excellence ensures that CBRE is not only a profitable enterprise, but also an employer of choice and a good corporate citizen.

Our corporate responsibility strategy focuses on the areas where we believe we can make the greatest impact. These include:

  • helping to mitigate the impact of the built environment on climate change
  • leading our industry with governance and ethics & compliance programs
  • using our talent, energy and resources to improve the quality of our communities and the lives of others
  • helping our people to reach their full potential while providing a safe and ethical workplace

We evaluate our progress against tangible commitments and report annually on our performance against well-established external reporting standards. In 2013 and early 2014, we made significant and measurable progress in each area of our program:

Environmental Sustainability

  • Selected and began funding five projects in CBRE’s Real Green Research Challenge, our four-year, $1-million academic and scientific research program dedicated to meaningful solutions to sustainability issues in commercial space
  • Published the first completed RGRC study, the Green Building Adoption Index in collaboration with Maastricht University, which quantifies dynamics of the growing market for green building space in U.S. markets
  • Obtained green certification of CBRE offices in Beijing, Dallas, London, New Delhi  and other locations, bringing our global green certified office count to 29, with 19 more in pursuit

Governance

  • Continued a multi-year, internal assessment to better understand our existing activity in stakeholder engagement
