WASHINGTON, April 23, 2013 /3BL Media/—Deloitte announced today that Will Reynolds, senior consultant, Deloitte Consulting LLP in Deloitte’s Federal Government Services practice has been named to the 2013 U.S. Army Team competing in the Warrior Games.  An active participant in adaptive sports since 2005, Reynolds earned his spot on both the cycling and swim teams following tryouts with the Army earlier this year.  He is the first Deloitte employee to participate in the Warrior Games.

“We’re excited to have Will competing on the Army team,” said Robin Lineberger, chief executive officer, Federal Government Services practice, Deloitte LLP.  “It’s a special honor to have one of our own participating this year.  Deloitte has been involved in the Warrior Games since its inception because we believe Paralympic-style competitive events accentuate the ability and resiliency of these men and women.”

In 2004, Reynolds was wounded during combat in Iraq. After two years of treatment and 23 surgeries, he was granted medical retirement from the Army. Reynolds graduated from the West Point Academy in 2002 and earned his MBA from the University of Rochester’s William E. Simon Graduate School of Business. He returned to work in the public sector with Deloitte Consulting LLP in 2010.

Adaptive sports, especially cycling, played a prominent role in Reynolds’ recovery and rehabilitation process. He remains connected to the adaptive athletic community, serving as a director for Team Red, White & Blue and a volunteer with the Walter Reed Bethesda cycling program for veterans and service members as well as participating in numerous Disabled Sports USA programs.

“I’m proud to represent the Army and Deloitte at the Warrior Games,” said Reynolds. “I’ve always been an athlete and participation in adaptive sports not only satisfies that itch to compete but also keeps me connected to the veteran community.  I’m looking forward to performing on the national stage alongside old friends and taking home some medals for the Army team.”

The Warrior Games, presented by Deloitte and organized by the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC), are designed to introduce wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans to Paralympic sport competition and encourages them to stay physically active.  The competition will be held in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 11-16, 2013.  Two-hundred sixty injured service members and veterans will participate in the fourth annual event, representing the Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force and Special Operations, as well as one international team from the U.K.  Teams will compete in seven sports including archery, cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track & field and wheelchair basketball.
