If you had 5 minutes with an inspirational woman leader what could you find out?

Throughout March, BNY Mellon's virtual mentoring series explores the career insights and candid perspectives of executives who have reached the corner office. These dedicated leader-coaches share many common traits and values, reflecting how BNY Mellon has become the Investments Company for the World.

Lisa Dolly, Chief Operating Officer of Pershing LLC, a BNY Mellon Company, shares career tips for those who are just getting started on the path to the corner office as well as those who are well on their way:

  1. Focus on acquiring skills and knowledge. As long as you are learning and in the loop, you shouldn't be too concerned with title, job code or where you sit.
  2. Find someone who believes in your potential, has a vested interest in your success, and then work hard to prove them right.
  3. Continually push yourself outside of your comfort zone.
  4. When the time comes, don't be afraid to ask for what you need or want.
  5. You deserve it!
