In the recent Business Roundtable report, “Create, Grow, Sustain: People and Technology at Work,” CSX Chairman and CEO Michael Ward describes how the company has focused on innovative technology and systems, environmental efficiency, and community involvement in order to continue to drive sustainable business results for the long term.

Staying competitive over nearly two centuries, from the invention of the automobile to the iPhone, has challenged CSX to adapt and emerge as a resilient, sustainable business. We will continue to look for new opportunities to best serve customer and consumer demand – through advanced technologies, increased efficiency, and new strategic investments – as the CSX of Tomorrow evolves to serve the next century and beyond.
-- Michael Ward, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, CSX

This marks the ninth year that Business Roundtable has issued its annual sustainability report.  This year, 133 companies participated in the report, which focused on the role of people and technology at work.

For CSX, technology in the workplace is focused on driving safety, service and efficiency. Technology solutions help employees deliver reliable service and give customers access to more data. It also allows employees to increase productivity and enjoy a better quality of life through access to mobile work tools.

CSX plans to issue its sixth comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility Report later this spring, which details past performance and future goals related to business, governance, safety, employee, environment and communities.
