CSX is committed to ensuring bright futures for all members of its communities – including their youngest residents!

In 2013, CSX joined forces with Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK), a nationwide nonprofit mobilizing school professionals, families and communities to take steps towards sound nutrition and physical activity. Since then, CSX has helped more than 1,300 schools across the country implement health and wellness initiatives that get students – and teachers and parents – moving outdoors and indoors and eating healthfully.

CSX is proud to partner yet again with AHFK in the 2017-2018 school year, funding 300 schools with “Game On” grants that will help implement physical activity and nutrition initiatives such as:

  • Recess equipment, playgrounds and play-spaces
  • Physical education
  • Intramural, before/after school programs
  • Nutrition education
  • School gardens
  • Smart Snacks, salad bars and Smarter Lunchrooms
  • Healthy classroom celebrations and rewards

In addition to funding, AFHK provides schools with technical support to activate their grants and assistance with developing their school health teams and assessing their school health environment.

Could a school in your community benefit from a School Grants for Healthy Kids?

Grants ranging from $500 to $1,000 are currently available for K-12 schools. Apply online at www.ActionforHealthyKids.org/Grants by Friday, April 7. Have questions? Email schoolgrants@actionforhealthykids.org.

Want to get involved with promoting wellness in schools?

CSX is proud to sponsor AFHK’s fifth annual Every Kid Healthy Week, which will be April 24-28, 2017. There are many ways to get involved, such as hosting a healthy foods event or a fitness class.  Take a picture and join the conversation online by posting using the hashtags #EveryKidHealthy Week, #EKHW17, or #healthykids
