(3BL Media) May 16, 2012 - The American Cancer Society is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 Corporate Impact Award Series. This award series will honor corporations and a chief executive officer for their engagement and leadership in targeted efforts to significantly impact cancer’s effect in the workplace, contributions to support the American Cancer Society’s fight against the disease, and responsible community involvement – all in support of the Society’s vision of creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

The 2012 Corporate Impact Awards will be presented during the American Cancer Society Nationwide Leadership Summit on November 14, 2012 at the Loews Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. There are seven categories in this award series, only five award categories are open for nomination and those categories are excellence in: 1) tobacco control, 2) cancer control, 3) employee engagement, 4) employee giving and 5) CEO of the Year.  The sixth and seventh award categories: excellence in philanthropy and the Award of Excellence are not open for nomination.

Companies and American Cancer Society staff members may submit nominations for any of the five open categories of the award series. The nomination criteria for all award categories are listed below in the Corporate Impact Award Series Criteria. A company can be nominated for multiple awards.  The Award of Excellence will be determined by the Corporate & Systems Initiative’s corporate value rating system, which measures a company’s overall activation with the Society across both mission and income offerings and executive engagement.  The Excellence in Philanthropy award is based on corporations that have provided $1 million or more to the American Cancer Society in the previous calendar year through a combination of corporate contributions, in-kind support, cause marketing and sponsorship, employee giving, and event fundraising.
