STAR India Launches ‘TED Talks India: Nayi Soch,’ a New Social Impact TV Series Hosted by Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan
Through a groundbreaking partnership with TED, the nonprofit dedicated to sharing talks from the world’s leading thinkers, 21st Century Fox’s STAR India has announced its latest pro-social television series, TED Talks India: Nayi Soch (“New Thinking”). The show will feature speakers presenting big ideas in Hindi in TED’s signature format, with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan serving as the host. The series marks the first time TED will collaborate with a major network and star to produce a TV series featuring original TED Talks in a language other than English.

National Geographic and Katie Couric Offer Free Screenings and Discussion with Upcoming ‘Gender Revolution Tour’
In support of the television premiere of Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric, National Geographic and Picture Motion are partnering to launch a free screening series across the U.S. The Gender Revolution Tour invites all universities, high schools, and nonprofits to request a free DVD of the film, along with a comprehensive discussion guide full of resources, to continue the conversation on understanding gender and identity in 2017.

Cynopsis Media Recognizes On-Air Campaigns from FOX Sports, National Geographic and Fox Business Network as Social Good Awards Nominees
FOX Sports, National Geographic and the Fox Business Network have garnered a total of ten nominations for the third annual Cynopsis Social Good Awards, a ceremony celebrating the media industry’s leading social responsibility initiatives. The nominations represent the breadth of social issues on which 21st Century Fox businesses engage their audiences, from National Geographic’s on-air campaigns to preserve America’s National Parks to FOX Sports Supports’ efforts to help military veterans transition to civilian life. The winners will be announced at a breakfast in New York City on March 2.

National Geographic Documentary Films Launches Further Filmmaker Fellowship with Sundance Institute to Spotlight Young Filmmakers Who Enlighten and Inspire
National Geographic Global Networks CEO Courteney Monroe announced the creation of the Further Filmmaker Fellowship, a grant program supporting young documentarians who embody the company’s spirit of exploration. The fellowship, a partnership with the Sundance Institute, was named for National Geographic’s global brand tagline “Further,” which symbolizes the desire to take risks, never settle, be radical about facts and always be hungry for more.

Fox and LA Promise Fund Screen ‘Hidden Figures’ for 10,000 Girls in Los Angeles
Nearly 10,000 young women from middle and high schools across Los Angeles County gathered at the University of Southern California’s Galen Center on January 10 for an exclusive screening of Hidden Figures, the hit film from 20th Century Fox that tells the true story of three female African American mathematicians who played crucial roles in the Space Race of the 1960’s. The LA Promise Fund for Public Schools organized the screening, which featured appearances by cast members Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe and Aldis Hodge, along with producer Pharrell Williams, all of whom spoke about their hope that the Hidden Figures story will inspire more women and women of color to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

Fox Station Group Extends STEM-Themed ‘Xploration Station’ TV Block through 2020
Xploration Station, a weekend morning block of live-action, educational and informational TV shows primarily airing on FOX TV stations around the country, has been extended by the Fox Station Group through 2020. The announcement was made today by Steve Rotfeld, president of Steve Rotfeld Productions (SRP), who produces and distributes Xploration Station.

21st Century Fox and PepsiCo, in partnership with the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS), have named Yuna Shin from Bothell, Washington, and Joy Bualamwini from Cambridge, Massachusetts, as the two grand prize winners of “The Search for Hidden Figures,” a contest awarding scholarships to young women pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Inspired by Fox's "Hidden Figures", this program actively engaged the next generation of female leaders in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and received more than 7,300 submissions from students across the country.

First Lady Hosts DC Students for Screening of Fox’s ‘Hidden Figures’ to Celebrate Decades of Women in Space Exploration
Middle and high-school students from Washington, D.C. area schools gathered at the White House on December 15 for a private screening of Hidden Figures, the new film from Fox 2000 following three female African American engineers who played crucial roles in the 1960s Space Race. Stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae were in attendance and joined a panel discussion following the screening to celebrate the contributions these women and many more African Americans have made to the STEM fields. First Lady Michelle Obama hosted the screening, part of a larger event series recognizing the untold stories of women in STEM, and delivered closing remarks.

21CF and the Paley Center Screen 'Hidden Figures' for High School Students, Host Panel Discussion on Women in STEM
Nearly 200 New York City high school students gathered at the Paley Center for Media on December 10 to celebrate Hidden Figures, the highly anticipated feature from 20th Century Fox revealing the untold story of three African American women who played major roles in the Space Race of the 1960s. The students were treated to an exclusive advance screening of the film and heard from members of the cast and crew, as well as female leaders in STEM fields, during a panel discussion about why it's critical that stories like these are told. Hidden Figures opens in select theaters across the U.S. on Christmas Day.
