Supply Chain & the Circular Economy

Sands ECO360 Ambassadors: Eddy Kembaren and Eric Ho from Marina Bay Sands
With a responsibility to our planet, Las Vegas Sands is a proud leader in sustainability in the hospitality industry through Sands ECO360, its global sustainability program. In 2017, Marina Bay Sands announced a partnership with World Wide Fund for Nature in Singapore (WWF)and their commitment to sustainable food and farming, the production of foods using farming techniques that protect the environment, public health, communities and animal welfare. Eddy Kembaren and Eric Ho are the senior managers in Procurement at Marina Bay Sands whose roles play an important part in ensuring sustainable food sourcing at the property.

Sands ECO360 Encourages Team Members to Create a Sustainable Commute
Established on Earth Day 2012, Sands ECO360 partnered with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) to create Club Ride Commuter Services Program. The free program works with employers and commuters to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and mobility, encouraging the use of commute alternatives, and ultimately create a more sustainable community.

Sands ECO360: John Hess, Executive Director of Engineering
When The Palazzo was first being constructed, Las Vegas Sands had an opportunity to build it in a way that would be environmentally friendly as a LEED certified, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, building. Based on this initiative, Las Vegas Sands began to take on several opportunities in sustainability for new and existing buildings. As part of the initial group that led to the development of Sands ECO360, John Hess, corporate executive director of Engineering, provides technical support during all phases of construction for new buildings and major renovation projects.

Responsible Business & Employee Engagement

Sands ECO360 Holds Green Ideas Challenge for Team Members
Team Members at The Venetian, The Palazzo and Sands Expo participated in the Green Ideas Challenge conducted by the property sustainability team. Approximately 180 ideas were submitted from various departments, and the goal is to implement the top three ideas in 2018.

Las Vegas Sands Announces Winners of Spring Step Challenge
Update: Last month, Las Vegas Sands Team Members in Las Vegas participated in the Sands ECO360 Spring Step Up Challenge as detailed in a previous story published on the Sands Confidential blog. The voluntary, 4-week walking challenge was designed as an internal initiative to promote more daily walking, as well as to raise awareness about energy conservation and carbon footprint reduction.

Sands ECO360 Launches Annual Global Clean Plate Challenge
Las Vegas Sands’ Team Members around the world are taking part in the annual Sands ECO360 Clean Plate Challenge, a global campaign designed to reduce food waste and to improve the company’s worldwide waste diversion rate.

Las Vegas Sands and Sands China Team Members Gather in Macao for Global Sands ECO360 Sustainability Summit
Sustainability Team Members from each of Las Vegas Sands’ various properties recently attended the 2016 Sands ECO360 Global Sustainability Summit. Also in attendance were some select Team Members from the company’s Macao properties, which included representatives from the following departments: housekeeping, food and beverage, convention and exhibition, facilities, procurement and supply chain, and engineering.
