The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation will launch Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz, a program inspiring local parks to host a pollinator BioBlitz event during June in celebration of pollinator month to raise awareness and community involvement in the pollinator crisis.

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Convened Leading Environmental Organizations in Annapolis to Discuss Clean Water
As water quality issues continue to become environmental and health hazards across the United States, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation convened its National Partner Network to discuss solutions. On June 6, ScottsMiracle-Gro convened over 40 individuals from 14 top environmental organizations across the nation. The meeting focused on clean water issues and how each organization is addressing them.

Planting Corporate Gardens: How ScottsMiracle-Gro Associates Are Spreading Their Love for Gardening
We first started encouraging associates to garden on company property at our Marysville, Ohio world headquarters in 1943 in support of the World War II Victory Garden movement. During that time, Americans were encouraged to grow their own food supply, and we offered associates land on which to grow edible gardens. Flash forward 75 years. Today, our corporate gardens have flourished into 77 raised beds with over 3,000 square feet of growing space. More than 250 associates plant and tend the gardens each growing season.

Education

Gardening Gives the Kids of Migrant Workers a Head Start
When preschool teacher Tonya Langston first asked the children in her Bowling Green, Florida, classroom where milk came from, their response was: "the kitchen." When she asked them where a banana comes from, same answer: "the kitchen." Langston's students are young—3 or 4 years old—but because they're the children of professional migrant farmworkers, Langston and her fellow teachers wanted to teach them more about what their parents do, and why it's important. The East Coast Migrant Head Start Project is part of a nationwide program made possible by the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation, designed to help children and families living in at-risk communities access fresh, healthy food.

Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Gives Kids a Head Start in the Garden
Ten Head Start programs across the country will soon be growing something greater this spring thanks to a grant from The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation and National Head Start Association. These ten Head Start programs were awarded monetary funds, product donations and garden kits, along with garden training and curriculum, to build or expand garden programs for their preschool students.
