Goldcorp was a proud sponsor of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in’s Moosehide Gathering that took place from July 26 to 29, 2018.

The Moosehide Gathering is a biannual celebration of Hän and Indigenous language and culture that takes place in Moosehide Village, three kilometres downriver from Dawson City, Yukon, and 130 kilometres north of Goldcorp’s Coffee Project. During the Gathering, the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in invited relatives from Yukon and Alaska as well as friends and visitors to enjoy workshops, guest speakers, dancing, drumming, singing and nightly feasts. This year’s Moosehide Gathering was an extraordinary celebration with over 4500 people joining in on the festivities.

This is a great year for celebrations. In April, Goldcorp and the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in celebrated the signing of their Collaboration Agreement for the Coffee Project. The Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in are also celebrating their 20th anniversary of the signing of their Land Claims and Self-Government Final agreements and the 45th anniversary of Yukon Chiefs presenting Together Today, For Our Children Tomorrow to Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau in Ottawa, which marked the beginning of land claim negotiations for many Yukon First Nations. Goldcorp is proud of its partnership with Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and is pleased to celebrate these important milestones with them.
