Cerro Verde, a Freeport-McMoRan company, Sponsored 173 Graduates from Technical Training Program

April 7, 2015 /3BL Media/ - In 2013, Cerro Verde partnered with TESCUP, Peru’s premier technical training institute, to develop a training for students interested in concentrator maintenance and operations. In December 2014 the one-time program graduated its class of 173 students.

During the course of the 12-month program, the 173 students logged 139,000 hours for completion. The training consisted of several courses, including process control, metrology, concentration plant processes, hydraulics, chemistry and basic electrotechnology.

More than 7,300 students from the surrounding communities of Uchumayo, Tiabya, Yarabamba and Arequipa applied for admission, with TESCUP accepting 173. Of these, 156 are pursuing employment at Cerro Verde.
