“You’re never too old for family” is a sentiment the Harris family takes to heart as they focus on fostering and adopting older youth. Dallas had been in foster care for five years, and joined her forever family at age 11. Soon after, The Harris family opened their home to another teen, Paula, who was in and out of foster care for nine years. She was adopted at age 14. Paula and Dallas are thriving with their forever family, and the Harris family continues to foster teens!

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is committed to dramatically increasing the number of adoptions from foster care. The Foundation does that through its signature program called Wendy’s Wonderful Kids. This program allows the Foundation to give funds to local adoption agencies that hire adoption recruiters. Those recruiters are trained by the Foundation in its child-focused recruitment model, which is up to three times more effective in finding permanent, loving homes for the youth most at risk of not being adopted. Wendy’s Wonderful Kids focuses solely on the children who might not be adopted, including older children, sibling groups and children with special needs.
