Sustainalytics, in partnership with Channel NewsAsia and CSR Asia, has launched the Channel NewsAsia Sustainability Ranking at the 10th annual CSR Summit in Hong Kong.

As the first of its kind in Asia, the ranking was created to identify the leading firms in corporate sustainability across 10 industries and 10 key Asian economies:  China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.  Launched on September 16th, the index lists 100 Asia-Pacific companies with the highest sustainability performance in Sustainalytics’ Global Platform (as of July 2014). The index also highlights the overall top 20 companies, and the top three per economy.

This year, the number one placing went to India’s Tata Consultancy Services, a leader in water management, energy innovation and employee engagement. City Developments Ltd, a Singaporean real estate firm, came in second, due in part to its ambitious life cycle analysis endeavors. CDL currently sets aside up to five percent of construction costs for green design elements such as recycled or sustainable building materials.
