The Children’s Science Center Lab in Fairfax, VA will celebrate its first birthday on Sunday, July 24, with a day full of festivities and the unveiling of two new gifts to the Lab and its visitors:

  • The Robotic Arm Challenge, presented by Booz Allen Hamilton, is a one-of-a-kind interactive technology exhibit that allows visitors to program an industrial robotic arm to complete fun challenges
  • The Aquatic Life exhibits will be home to seahorses and many more of children’s favorite sea animals with new learning aquariums in the Experiment Bar and Discovery Zone galleries.

From 11am-6pm on Sunday, July 24, general admission to the Children’s Science Center Lab will be $1. The public is welcome to attend and be among the first to explore the Lab’s new exhibits.

The Lab will also host a Summer of Science Celebration from 1-4pm in the Grand Court of Fair Oaks Mall. This free, family event includes hands-on activity tables and entertainment. Activities are health and fitness themed to tie in with the Center’s Walk Run Bike Summer Challenge and include topics such as calculating basal metabolic rate, determining the amount of fat naturally occurring in foods, how energy is transferred, and how electricity can be generated on a bicycle.

Booz Allen Hamilton is a founding sponsor of the Lab, where children, families, and school groups can learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through fun exhibits and hands-on activities.
