Conflict Minerals Resource Center New Feature for Smelter Information

The Conflict Minerals Resource Center (CMRC) has recently added a new feature that alerts members of the CMRC when there has been a notable change made to smelters and reporting templates. This resource center provides information and training for vendors, suppliers and other companies in the supply chains of our respective members.

The CMRC supports more than 15,000 member companies, and this number is increasingly growing everyday. Last year, seven of the worlds largest industry associations collaborated with Source Intelligence and Schulte Roth and Zabel LLP to launch the first cross-industry training and resource center, addressing the Securities and Exchange Commissions (SEC) Conflict Minerals compliance regulation. Source Intelligence has developed the CMRC to support over 15,000 member companies who collectively generate over $3 trillion (USD) in GDP and hundreds of thousands of U.S. jobs.

Key representatives from the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), the Fashion Jewelry and Accessories Trade Association (FJATA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the National Retail Federation (NRF), the Toy Industry Association (TIA) and the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) worked with Source Intelligence and Schulte Roth & Zabel to align training and resource center priorities to provide member companies with the information they need to comply with the SEC regulation.

The CMRC’s tools and resources have helped companies understand the complicated requirements of the regulation, recognizing that it is the responsibility of individual companies to identify their specific compliance obligations and handle the real challenges that remain as they design their own programs.

While issuers and non-issuers have felt a growing pressure to achieve clarity in their smelter information, Source Intelligence has added resources to its online Conflict Minerals Resource Center. Additionally, with only 5 months away until the next reporting deadline, companies have been requesting for resources to address their smelter verification challenges. The CMRC will automatically update members when there have been changes made to smelter information and reporting templates.

If you are not yet a member of the CMRC, please watch our video for more information, and follow this link to become a member.
