Creating An Environment Where Everyone Can Be Themselves at Barclays

In celebration of IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia) on 17 May, more than 130 countries around the world came together to raise awareness of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Barclays has a strong track record of supporting LGBT employees and customers. We have been recognised globally by organisations such as Stonewall and the Human Rights Campaign, and have partnered with Pink Dot (Singapore), Ali Forney Centre (New York), the StandUp Foundation (US/UK) and the Albert Kennedy Trust (UK) on LGBT issues.

In the marketplace, we have established external partnerships with organisations like Pride in London, building on our work in the LGBT community to present our products in a way that aligns to our business strategy.

And for our employees, we have an established Spectrum network that provides support, thought leadership and networking opportunities. We’ve also introduced the Spectrum Allies programme, which offers employees that are not LGBT the chance to be involved in events, projects and community work designed to help employees bring their whole selves to work.

Our aim is to be a leader for global LGBT equality.
