NEW YORK, September 8, 2017 /3BL Media/ – Delos™, a wellness real estate and technology firm, today announced a Memorandum of Understanding with the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Design and Environment that will help accelerate the integration of health and wellness in the built environment. As part of the collaboration, the organisations will maintain an open exchange of knowledge and will collaborate on research to further the development of design elements that serve to transform indoor spaces into environments that actively promote occupant health.

“The School of Design and Environment at NUS is pleased to collaborate with Delos to produce evidence based research on the effect of our indoor environments on human health and well-being,” said Professor Khee Poh Lam, Dean of NUS School of Design and Environment. “This endeavor will generate new and contextually relevant knowledge that will lead to a deeper understanding of this phenomenon amongst the building industry professionals who design, construct, and operate buildings. We will engage our NUS colleagues in medicine, public health, and engineering as well as the physical and social sciences in this strategic cross-disciplinary effort towards creating a sustainable and healthy environment for all to enjoy and flourish in.”

Further strengthening the relationship between Delos and NUS, Prof Lam has been invited to serve on the Delos advisory board, which brings together leading physicians, scientists, designers, and sustainability professionals to provide strategic direction related to the health impacts of the built environment.

“Delos and the NUS School of Design and Environment share a mutual understanding of the importance of optimising the health and wellness benefits of the spaces in which we spend 90% of our time,” says Paul Scialla, founder and CEO of Delos. “Through this collaboration, we will be able to approach the issue of wellness in the built environment with a fresh perspective and generate new and innovative research methodologies and practices, which will serve to further the understanding of the relationship between the built environment and occupant wellness.”
