Madison, Wis., June 11, 2014 /3BL Media/ – First Fairfield Associates, LLC, and 1stGig.com is pleased to announce that Saretha Sotomayor is the first recipient of a $3830 grant which the companies awarded based on her excellent academics and field of study. She received a Bachelor of Science in Human Service from Boricua College, Bronx, New York.

“We’re thrilled that this year’s grant went to such a talented young woman,” said 1stGig CEO Al Marco. “Our goal with this grant program is to help students offset financial stresses in their final years of college. Saretha worked very hard throughout her college years and we felt she represented the best hopes and dreams of college students everywhere.”

For Saretha, the grant couldn’t have come at a better time. “On May 21, 2014, I was told that I couldn’t participate in Commencement exercises until at least half of my school balance was paid,” remembered Saretha. “That very day I learned that I was the recipient of a scholarship due to my good grades. With the scholarship and the grant, I was beyond excited.”

So what does the future hold for Saretha? She plans to relocate to Albany and continue her education by seeking a Master’s degree in Social Work.  “I have been fortunate to have such great support from my parents, husband, three children and so many other wonderful people that I want to pay it forward and help those less fortunate,” said Saretha.
