Common Cause, a U.K. based charity, is a brilliant and simple idea: is the first crowdfunding site that allows people to work directly with individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them build micro-enterprises, and financial independence. The organisation simply cuts out the middleman so people can work directly with entrepreneurs and see the difference they are making to their lives. The platform works with talented, dedicated entrepreneurs who are on government benefits, council housing tenants, aged 18-30 from low-income areas, or have experienced domestic violence, homelessness or long-term unemployment.

People who want to do something positive can now meet people who need help by browsing the micro-enterprises and contacting them directly. Supporters can offer all types of assistance from volunteering, to PR and marketing support to donating as little as £20, to giving old equipment like laptops, or offering discounted services, such as childcare or shop space. The donors and supporters are rewarded with goods that entrepreneurs make, which can range from French lessons to pottery. The charity has gained broad support from government, businesses, communities and voluntary organisations. The entrepreneurs are screened and referred by support organisations.
