General Motors was named one of America’s Most JUST Companies by Forbes and JUST Capital, a nonprofit that analyzes and ranks companies based on the priorities of the American people. GM is the only automaker on the list.

The designation represents GM’s commitment to doing business responsibly and improving communities, demonstrating alignment with what customers want from business.

The 72,000 people surveyed prioritized creating a good product, reducing environmental impact and connecting with communities. Americans across all demographics placed high importance on worker issues, such as fair and equal pay, health benefits and work-life balance.

“I learned early on that regardless of their role in the company, employees want to know that their work is meaningful, valued and challenging; that it contributes to the success of the business; and that there are clearly defined opportunities for career growth,” said Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. “I saw firsthand what our teams could accomplish when leaders were allowed to lead, and given the right resources to do their best work.

“This is especially true today, as we work to achieve our vision of a world with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion. Our teams have the technical and business expertise to drive the future of transportation as well as a passion to change the world.”

GM surpassed others in its sector in four out of seven factors, including the environment, jobs, community and workers. Several other third-party groups also have recognized the company this year for leadership in various aspects of sustainability:
