April 6, 2018 /3BL Media/ - Safeguarding the environment and protecting public health can go hand-in-hand with business growth, Gina McCarthy says, and on May 16 she will share this vision with corporate leaders at NAEM’s 2018 Compliance Management conference in Austin.

The former administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will address a gathering of environment, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability professionals who lead environmental programs within companies.

“Gina McCarthy is an influential voice for change,” said NAEM Executive Director Carol Singer Neuvelt. “During a time when companies are establishing ambitious goals for their own environmental performance, she is an inspiring role model for the kind of leadership that society is now seeking from the business community.”

The National Association for Environmental Management (NAEM) is the largest professional community for corporate EHS&S managers, directors and vice presidents. Its members are responsible for establishing environmental policy and integrating those programs into business operations.

Ms. McCarthy’s emphasis on common sense strategies is particularly relevant in a time of regulatory and political uncertainty, Ms. Neuvelt said.

“Companies are investing in robust management systems to mitigate risk, regardless of recent policy changes. We believe her message will resonate with those who are stewarding those programs within companies today.”

The conference, which is expected to draw more than 150 attendees on May 15-17, will showcase peer case studies and panel discussions on topics such as: auditing, management of change, ISO: 14001 implementation and emerging technologies. The agenda also includes a training workshop on mergers and acquisitions, structured networking opportunities and an interactive benchmark on training strategies.

The speakers at this year’s conference will include representatives from: Harris Corp., DuPont, The Pacific Gas and Electric Co., Miles & Stockbridge, Exelon Corp., Enhesa S.A., PETCO Animal Supplies Inc., American Industrial Hygiene Association, PepsiCo Inc., Carrier Corp., BNSF Railway Co., Dixie Chemical Co. and Siemens AG.
