#GivingSkills on #GivingTuesday

Nov 21, 2016 11:00 AM ET

#GivingTuesday is global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration taking place on Tuesday, November 29th. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.), #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

This year, we are hosting a Twitter chat on Tuesday, November 29th to talk about how you can give your skills, in addition to your dollars through volunteering. Throughout the chat, we will explore the merits of skills-based volunteering and tangible ways in which you can give back by leveraging your existing skillsets.

Our Panelists:

  • Seth Williams, Signature Skills Program Manager, Corporate Responsibility at John Hancock Financial Services
  • Steven Mock, Associate Operating Systems Programmer | LEAP at Fidelity Investments Enterprise Infrastructure
  • Megan Wong, Director of Strategic Initiatives, EARN
  • Katje King, Director of Strategic Implementation and Evaluation, PENCIL

Who Should Participate?

Individuals, nonprofits, and companies who want to make a difference on and around #GivingTuesday, and are interested in how to leverage their skills to help build up capacity at local nonprofit organizations.

How to Join:

Log onto Twitter on November 29th at 12 pm EST/ 9 am PST and follow the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #GivingSkills. Our questions will be posted to the Panelists who will answer Q1 with A1, and Q2 with A2, but we encourage participants to get involved in the conversation as well! Remember to always include the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #GivingSkills and feel free to talk to others in the chat, ask questions, provide your own resources and be social!
