Last month, Ingersoll Rand’s chairman and CEO Michael Lamach reiterated the company’s commitment to climate action. As a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, Trane® aligns with this strategy and seeks to provide a portfolio of solutions that meet customer demands for products as well as efficient, safe, reliable and climate-friendly services.

Climate action is a global issue and we strive to offer our customers around the world choices about when and how they want to achieve both their business and sustainability goals, without compromising performance or efficiency. In fact, there is strong global customer demand for products and services that are both good for the climate and good for business.

That’s why we’re particularly excited about our recently announced partnership with Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (EMPOWER), the world's largest district cooling services provider, on the purchase of new chillers for the company. As part of this deal, Trane will supply Empower with eco-friendly chillers, helping Empower drive toward their carbon emission reduction goals. We celebrated this new partnership at IDEA2017 – 108th Annual Conference & Trade Show, which recently look place in Scottsdale, AZ on June 27, with a signing ceremony to commemorate the joint commitment of the two companies.

The use of next-generation refrigerants that deliver advanced efficiency with a near-zero global warming potential (GWP) by a major global cooling services provider demonstrate the importance of collaborative global action on climate. The wide-spread use of eco-friendly chillers worldwide as part of this partnership enable both Empower and Trane to make significant and positive environmental impacts.

As part of Ingersoll Rand’s Climate Commitment, the company has pledged to reduce the greenhouse gas refrigerant footprint of its products by 50 percent by 2020 and incorporate lower-GWP alternatives across its portfolio by 2030. Our partnership with Empower illustrates the global demand for next-generation refrigerants and efficient products, and Trane is excited for the opportunity to work with a global leader to not only help them meet their goals, but also expand the positive impact of our own commitment to climate action.
