Join us for a LIVE Twitter chat with Global Health Fellows Program (GHFP) II, The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), PIMCO, and PYXERA Global to talk about the Global Health Corporate Champions. These champions are professionals, sent from companies across multiple industries to work for one month at company expense, to address key public health challenges in collaboration with local non-profits and social enterprises in Accra, Ghana.

Building on USAID Bureau for Global Health’s efforts to infuse the global health workforce with a diversity of professional experiences including pro bono corporate talent, the LIVE Twitter chat will dive into the benefits of private and public sector collaboration like the Global Health Corporate Champions to help USAID meet its critical global health priorities. This diverse group of leaders from Dow, PIMCO, and PwC leveraged their business and operational expertise to enable global health NGOs in Ghana reach communities more effectively—leaving in place longer term, sustainable capacity.

The Global Health Corporate Champions is an activity of the USAID Global Health Fellows Program II, which is implemented by the Public Health Institute and addresses immediate and emerging human capital needs in the global health sphere.

Neil C. Hawkins, Sc.D.

Dr. Neil C. Hawkins currently serves as the Chief Sustainability Officer and Corporate Vice President for Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) for The Dow Chemical Company, where he is in his 27th year of service. Hawkins is a global leader in the private sector in sustainable business practices, EH&S management, and public policy platforms for global sustainable development. Hawkins was the Dow executive leading the development of Dow’s 2025 Sustainability Goals, which have the potential to redefine the role of business in sustainable development. During his tenure, he has been the architect of many groundbreaking collaborations, including the Dow/Nature Conservancy Collaboration on valuing nature in business decisions, which won the 2013 Harvard Roy Family Award for Environmental Partnership, as well as the innovative Dow Sustainability Graduate Fellows Program at the University of Michigan.

Douglas M. Hodge

Mr. Hodge is PIMCO's chief executive officer and a managing director of the firm. He previously served as chief operating officer from 2009–2014. He also serves on PIMCO's executive committee and on the global executive committee for Allianz Asset Management, the governing body of asset management for the Allianz Group.  As CEO, Mr. Hodge has executive oversight of the firm’s client and business areas, including broad strategy-setting and resource management. Mr. Hodge currently serves as an executive committee member and on the board of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

Amanda MacArthur is Chief Program Officer at PYXERA Global, a US-based, non-profit organization that leverages the unique strengths of the public, private and social sectors to address complex global challenges. In her role she leads a dedicated and passionate team to design, implement and measure the impact of an array of programs that engage the power of human capital to build the capacity of social mission-driven organizations around the world-delivering more than $10 million in pro bono consulting annually. Amanda led IBM’s first-ever Corporate Service Corps team to Timisoara, Romania in 2008 and has since developed similar programs for FedEx, The Dow Chemical Company and Medtronic among several other Fortune 500 companies. She recently penned Beating VUCA’s Whiplash Factor in TD Magazine and has also spoken at events such as The Conference Board’s Annual Leadership Development Conference, Points of Light Annual Conference, ACCP Conference, and the Commit Forum.
