An event recap from Chris Munoz, Development Associate at Our Little Haven:

Over two beautiful days of golf and activities last month, Marcone and Our Little Haven hosted around 200 players and guests at Sunset Country Club for the 2014 OLH Golf Tournament fundraiser.

Our Little Haven often talks about "filling cookie jars" as a way to describe the organization's mission. Kathleen Hummel, Therapeutic Director of OLH explains, "The simplest way to tell you who OLH is and what we do is through a story: We believe when we're born, we're given a "cookie jar," and each positive experience—each hug, each success—is  like getting a cookie in our jar. At about ten years old, the end of our formative years, our cookie jar gets sealed up and what we have in there is what nurtures us for the rest of our lives. Most of our cookie jars are pretty full. But the Haven kids…well, their jars are empty and it's our duty to fill them. That's what Marcone does, helps us fill the cookie jars."

With generous support and leadership from Marcone, Our Little Haven raised close to $95,000. These funds go to vital programs that support children and families dealing with complex needs due to early trauma, mental health challenges, abuse, or neglect.

As Scott Hummel, Executive Director of Our Little Haven, notes, "The value of the Golf Tournament goes far beyond the money raised. This is an opportunity to share with our community the support these children and families are receiving through Our Little Haven."  He continues, "Marcone's willingness to lead the community in this fashion is a thoughtful and effective way to help.  We're grateful for the consideration of community leaders like Jim Souers, and we look forward to our continued strong relationship with our friends at Marcone and the families we serve."
