NAEM and CDP Plan Celebration for Top North American Carbon Performers

Aug 21, 2014 10:10 AM ET

August 21, 2014 /3BL Media/ - CDP announced today it will host a celebration for its top North American carbon performers on Oct. 21 in tandem with the National Association for Environmental Management’s (NAEM) 2014 EHS Management Forum in Austin, Texas. The Forum is the largest annual conference for corporate environment, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability professionals.

The reception will include an overview of CDP’s work to accelerate corporate carbon emissions reductions in North America and a presentation of leading climate change practices by a large U.S.-based company.

Tom Carnac, CDP’s President for North America, said the event will be a great opportunity for the CDP team to connect with NAEM’s community, which includes many of the key people responsible for managing environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting for their companies.

“With such a high concentration of sustainability knowledge and expertise in one place, this will be an excellent time for everyone involved to get inspired and learn from one another."

NAEM Deputy Director Virginia Hoekenga said the celebration aligns with the association’s mission to recognize the individual leaders who are helping to build sustainable organizations.

“The Forum showcases the successes of those who are forging the path forward,” she said. “There’s a natural synergy between our purpose and CDP’s work to recognize those who are taking the lead on climate performance and reducing greenhouse gas emissions within their own companies.”

Every year, CDP publishes the Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI), which marks companies that are implementing a robust climate strategy and approach to reducing emissions, and the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), which identifies those companies that are the most climate transparent.  Both indices are used by investors to inform investment decisions relating to climate risks and opportunities. The S&P 500 CPLI and CDLI 2014 will be announced at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE Euronext) on September 23 for the U.S. and the Canada 200 CPLI and CDLI will be revealed on October 15.
