Over the past few decades, significant progress has been made around the world toward recycling. Companies, government organizations, and municipalities have increased their efforts and adopted new strategies to achieve more efficient and sustainable waste management.

In 2016, the recycling industry is set to be impacted by three trends: redefining of what recycling means in the context of a circular economy, greater consolidation of the recycling industry, and mitigation of legislative action on product stewardship.
