Safeway and The Safeway Foundation Support Local Schools

Together with our customers we’ve given over $300 million to local schools through the eScrip program since 1999. Thank you to customers who participated in the program so far. We are making a real impact in our communities.

We encourage all our shoppers to take part in eScrip.  You can activate donations to the school of your choice simply by shopping at Safeway. Just join the eScrip program, and a percentage of your qualifying Safeway Club Card purchases goes to the school you have designated.

The Safeway Foundation supports neighborhood schools and youth development organizations, as well as a broad range of after-school and physical education activities. Our donations help fund new computers, school supplies, art programs, curriculum enhancements, textbooks, music programs, gymnasiums and more.

Safeway and The Safeway Foundation support education in other ways too:

  • Last year, Safeway team members in Nogales, Arizona helped 900 kids get ready for school. Safeway provided back-to-school needs for the students and our employees volunteered at the event. Learn more about the Nogales back-to-school event.
  • The Vons Foundation* provided support for an edible garden at Toland Way Elementary School in Eagle Rock, California. Read more about the edible garden.
