The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation was one of several funders to support a two-year long Landscape Transformation study conducted by the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE). AWE’s study was the most expansive and diverse assessment to date of outdoor water efficiency programs implemented by water providers throughout North America.

AWE studied the impact of 14 utility-sponsored programs, ranging from incentives for efficient irrigation technologies to water-wise re-landscaping, on residential outdoor water use. The study aimed to answer the following questions: Do utility-sponsored outdoor water efficiency programs work in reducing water consumption? Which types of programs are most effective, and how engaged and satisfied are customers?

Here are highlights from the recently released research.
