Social Media for Social Good

Feb 13, 2012 9:00 AM ET

(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) February 13, 2012 - The role for social media has evolved beyond connecting people and facilitating the sharing of information and passion. From empowering marginalized communities with digital tools to designing socially adept technologies for fundraising, social media is increasingly playing a prominent role in impacting change on a civic level.

This panel will attempt to analyze some of the memorable moments that social media has played in local and global communities. To lend an uncommon perspective, this panel will also highlight some of the recent success of social media in the political sphere (Arab Spring; Occupy Movement, etc.) and provide thoughts on how to harness the power of social media to influence community, government and democracy.

Join Alice Korngold as she moderates this panel on "Social Media for Social Good" at JWT for Social Media Week New York.  Speakers will include Dan Savage, It Gets Better; Cheryl Heller, Chair, PopTech; Doug Hecht, Digitaria; and Carmel Hagan, Common.  Register here http://bit.ly/z7WKsZ
