BIG NEWS FOR YOU - SASB Gets Headliner Leadership Michael Bloomberg & Mary Schapiro on Board

Game changer -- back in the 1990s the term emerged to signal a development, a new element, an important new factor that changed the game (usually used in sports).  Here's one for you that we think will definitely help to shape the future directions of the Sustainable Accounting Standards board (SASB) -- Michael Bloomberg, just stepping down as mayor of New York City, and Mary Schapiro, former chair of the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC)  are the new chair and vice chairs (respectively) of SASB.

Michael Bloomberg is principal of Bloomberg LP, one of the world's largest and most important financial services news and information services.  The "Bloomberg" (terminal) is accessed by 300,000+ users.  He rose from an entry level job at Salomon Bros. to become a billionaire, and entrepreneur who founded one of the world's most influential information services provider.

Mary Schapiro was the 29th SEC chairman, serving four years in one the most challenging periods in modern financial history.  She was also CEO of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), which oversees the securities industry. (She was also chairwoman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).)

They join a board whose members include such powerful thought leaders as Dr. Bob Eccles of Harvard Business School; Jack Ehnes, CEO of CalSTRS; Erika Karp, CEO of Cornerstone Capital (formerly of UBS); and Peter Knight, Partner, Generation Investment Management. (The full board roster is at: http://www.sasb.org/sasb/board-directors/.)

The addition of Bloomberg and Schapiro signals important changes -- "game changes" -- ahead for SASB.  Read more in our Top Story.  And stay tuned to SASB.
