December 6, 2016 /3BL Media/ - T. Rowe Price was recognized for its commitment to maintaining a comfortable environment for all associates with a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI) released by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). The score earns the firm designation as a 2017 best place to work for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) equality.

“We’ve made great strides to nurture an inclusive culture,” says Angela Roseboro, head of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I). “As a global company, it is our goal to create an environment in which everyone feels comfortable no matter their ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.”

The HRC is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBTQ equality. It started issuing CEI rankings in 2002 to provide an annual measure of how equitably large private businesses in the U.S. treat their LGBTQ employees, consumers, and investors.

Each year, the HRC survey gauges trends and best practices among businesses and across industries. Findings from the survey are used as the primary source of information for ranking companies’ corporate policies and practices for LGBTQ workplace inclusion.

To receive a 100% rating and CEI recognition as a 2017 best place to work for LGBTQ equality, a company had to satisfy three standards:

  • Have sexual orientation and gender identity nondiscrimination protections explicitly included in all of its operations, both within the U.S. and global operations.

Require U.S. contractors to abide by companies’ existing inclusive nondiscrimination policy.

  • Implement internal requirements prohibiting company/law firm philanthropic giving to nonreligious organizations that have a written policy of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

T. Rowe Price’s perfect CEI score exemplifies its support of associates bringing their whole selves to work, regardless of their sexual orientation.

“There are so many different ways we try to integrate an inclusive culture that welcomes all associates and their various backgrounds,” says Angela. “This recognition speaks to the firm’s support of maintaining an open and comfortable workplace, and I look forward to advancing our diversity and inclusion efforts even further in 2017.”
