CAMPAIGN: Timberland’s Commitment to Community

CONTENT: Multimedia with summary

This holiday season, global outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland is focused not only on equipping shoppers with the latest in cold weather gear, but also with serving those in the community who are less fortunate. With the message “Made to Give” appearing in stores across the U.S., the brand engaged both employees and consumers in a variety of efforts to support communities in need.

Timberland kicked off the season of giving with an in-house service event for its sales team. Service is often on the agenda for the team’s annual November Sales Meeting and this year the team served Gather, a local non-profit organization focused on ending hunger. Over 40 employees packed 2,500 lbs. of dried beans, pasta and herbs into 1,700 hearty bean soup kits, with each kit feeding 6 people. Meanwhile, down the road at Gather’s headquarters, an additional 55 people distributed over 300 Thanksgiving meals to families in the community. Timberland retail stores engaged consumers in the effort to give back during the holidays with an in-store and online fundraising campaign to support Habitat for Humanity. Timberland has a long history of supporting Habitat for Humanity. Employee volunteers have framed houses in the parking lot of the brand’s global headquarters in Stratham, New Hampshire over the years to help provide homes for families impacted by tornadoes or other disasters. This season, Habitat is focused on helping those impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Timberland has committed to match all donations up to $10,000.

At Timberland’s global headquarters, employees had many opportunities to serve through the annual Holiday Giving Tree. Over 200 wishes were fulfilled for 5 local New Hampshire organizations. Employees bought gifts for elderly shut-ins, people struggling with homelessness and food insecurity, as well as animal shelters and mental health facilities.

Lastly, to round out the brand’s 25th anniversary of its Path of Service™ program, new employees served together to support Operation Blessing, an organization that assists people faced with poverty and addiction. The Timberland volunteers unpacked hundreds of gifts for Operation Blessing’s annual holiday event, which helps low income families get holiday gifts for their children. After families made their selections, volunteers wrapped the gifts before sending the families on their way.
