Tracking Sustainability Commitments on a Quarterly Basis is Possible
The world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people. The authors of the landmark report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) say urgent and unprecedented changes are needed to reach the target, which they say is affordable and feasible although it lies at the most ambitious end of the Paris agreement pledge to keep temperatures between 1.5C and 2C. In light of this report, corporations across industries should be focusing on sustainability as a key enabler to ensure targets set by the UN are met.

Each quarter, Schneider Electric publishes 21 indicators across 5 megatrends from the Schneider Sustainability Impact, measuring progress towards its ambitious sustainability commitments for 2018 to 2020, in line with the COP 21 and United Nations objectives. With a total score of 5.25 out of 10 at end-October 2018, the Group has exceeded its Schneider Sustainability Impact target of 5 out of 10 for the end of 2018.
The score also reflects Schneider Electric’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes recent recognition by Equileap where Schneider Electric was ranked 15th among 200 companies for accelerating progress towards gender equality. The company has also joined the United Nations Global Compact LEAD, a global initiative gathering the most engaged companies committed to the United Nations Global Compact Ten Principles.
