UN Global Compact announces new Business Action Platform for the Ocean

The UN Global Compact is pleased to announce the formation of a Business Action Platform for the Ocean — a three-year global programme bringing together business, civil society, the UN and Governments to advance the ocean economy and sustainable development. The programme is part of a broader portfolio of Action Platforms introduced by the UN Global Compact to facilitate the achievement of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Global Goals.

Ten new markets earmarked as opportunities to boost lagging Sustainable Development Goals

According to a new Global Opportunity Report from DNV GL, Sustainia and the UN Global Compact, renewed efforts are required to ensure four of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals do not miss their 2030 targets. The Global Goals addressed in the report are Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Goal 13: Climate Action and Goal 14: Life Below Water.

UN Global Compact and PRME call for business school to focus on the Global Goals

The UN Global Compact and Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) called for systemic changes in business and management education today at a high-level dinner on 23 January in Davos, Switzerland. Over 40 academic leaders and corporate executives — including deans from top business schools and Chief Executives from leading businesses — gathered for the dinner, held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, to discuss gaps in today’s business and management education.

UN Global Compact Board: 2018 Call for Nominations

The UN Global Compact is calling for nominations for its global advisory board in 2018.

We are looking to fill up to ten open Board seats and encourage the submission of qualified chief executive-level candidates from participating companies and civil society organizations who are actively engaged in the work of the UN Global Compact. We are committed to gender parity and strong regional business representation, and are counting on your nominations to build a truly engaged and diverse Board that represents the broad spectrum of participants within the UN Global Compact.
