BENTON HARBOR, Mich., June 24, 2015 /3BL Media/ - The ventless Whirlpool® HybridCare™ Duet clothes dryer with Heat Pump technology, designed to reduce installation costs for professionals and energy costs for homeowners, has earned a 2015 PCBC Parade of Products (POP) Award for innovation in design and practical application. It is one of only 18 homebuilding products selected by a panel of industry experts to receive the recognition.

Compared to typical dryers that use large amounts of energy in the form of venting hot, moist air, the Whirlpool® HybridCare™ dryer is a ventless heat pump dryer that uses a refrigeration system to dry and recycle the same air. The HybridCare™ technology uses advanced sensors to manage energy consumption and temperature to deliver drying performance and energy savings. The ventless technology also gives builders and designers of single and multifamily housing the freedom to place laundry areas virtually anywhere in the home and reduces installation costs typically required by vented clothes dryers.

“The products that win POP Awards are at the forefront of ingenuity, innovation, performance and practicality,” said Ann Bivens, director of exhibits at PCBC. “While the competition was fierce this year, the Whirlpool HybridCare dryer stood out because of its ability to dramatically reduce energy consumption and virtually eliminate the limitations of installing most dryers, making life easier for professionals.”

The HybridCare™ ENERGY STAR® Certified electric dryer uses up to 73 percent less energy[i] with the Eco Dry setting while also drying loads within normal dry times. The POP Award adds to a list of several recognitions the HybridCare™ dryer has received in recent months, including awards from organizations such as the Consumer Electronics Show and ENERGY STAR®.

“By working closely with our building industry partners, Whirlpool Corporation has consistently offered innovative products that ultimately help sell homes,” said Bob Bergeth, general manager of builder sales at Whirlpool Corporation. “The HybridCare dryer reduces energy consumption, helping builders offer homebuyers additional savings on overall energy costs without sacrificing drying performance. Also, because it does not require an outside vent, it allows builders greater flexibility and reduces material and labor costs.”

Originally launched in 1959, PCBC is a West Coast gathering of America’s most prominent residential builders, developers, architects and industry leaders. This year the annual conference and exhibition will be held June 24–25, 2015, in San Diego. The ventless Whirlpool® HybridCare™ clothes dryer (WED99HED) with Hybrid Heat Pump technology, as well as Whirlpool Corporation’s diverse selection of innovative, resource-efficient kitchen and laundry appliances from its Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid and Jenn-Air brand portfolio, will be displayed at the Whirlpool Corporation booth, number 1313.
