CSR and Total Quality Management Combine for Business Success

There’s more evidence that there are definite links between corporate social responsibility and success in business. A recent study finds a clear correlation between better performance and enterprises that combine CSR and Total Quality Management, TQM—that’s the practice that assumes every worker is committed to high standards of performance.

As independent concepts, both CSR and TQM promote values, methods, and efforts that lead to greater levels of performance by employees. But the study, by authors at Cadiz University, Spain, published in Cogent Business & Management, found that the most common social and environmental practices strongly support the development of Top Quality Management practices.

As a result, small and medium-sized businesses are increasingly integrating CSR and TQM to meet stakeholders’ needs. The study confirms that engaging in CSR improves the quality of a firm. It also concludes that CSR and good management practices are interconnected and co-dependent to a high degree in modern business.
