Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Tuesday, June 29th:
The Inter-American Development Bank will provide $2 million to help microfinance institutions in Haiti. The IDB’s Multilateral Investment Fund is partnering with several foundations including the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation, the Calmeadow Foundation, and the Calvert Foundation. The Haiti Emergency Liquidity program will buy earthquake-related loans from Haitian microfinance institutions to help clean up their balance sheets.
At a European Union summit meeting on CSR held last week, the Industry and Enterprise Commissioner announced a task force on CSR in the pharmaceutical sector. The Committee will work on improving access to medicines for developing countries, particularly in Africa and Latin America. The focus will be on supply, distribution, and pricing of medicines for underserved communities.
