(3BL Media) Mumbai, India - April 13, 2012 - In November 2012, a group of international leaders will travel to Delhi and Jaipur to connect with some of India’s most inspiring social entrepreneurs.  Together, they will share lessons in how social entrepreneurship and ‘business for good’ can create a better world.

The collaboration is organized by the social business Journeys for Change, based out of Mumbai.  Over the past five years, the Journeys for Change team has brought more than one hundred accomplished leaders from the U.S., Europe, China and India to learn from and offer guidance to India’s top social entrepreneurs, social businesses and charities.

As they travel through Delhi and Jaipur, journey participants will connect with a diverse range of initiatives including Barefoot College, d.light, Jaipur Foot, Goonj, Goonj and Dhriiti.  These are social businesses and not-for-profit organizations that train rural poor to innovate their way out of poverty, enable households without reliable electricity to attain the same quality of life as those with electricity, provide custom-fit prosthetics to the physically challenged for free, alleviate rural poverty through recycling, and empower youth to become entrepreneurs.

Past journeys have yielded new corporate strategies, cross-sector partnerships, project funding, and new directions for the participants and their organizations. Participants have come from organizations as diverse as JP Morgan, Nike, Credit Suisse, Novo Nordisk and Habitat for Humanity.

"The journey had a profound impact for our organization. It helped re-focus our social investment strategy, moving from simply writing a check to more of a social venture capitalist approach," says Kelly Lauber, Global Director of Strategic Planning, Nike Corporate Responsibility.

“Through bringing together accomplished leaders from different sectors across the world, our aim is to create a powerful leadership development experience where participants can leave better equipped to create greater change in the world,” say Pooja Warier and Richard Alderson, co-founders of Journeys for Change.
